With annual average temperatures who
swing in between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius, Gran Canaria
has a spring climate during the whole year, recognized
by the international scientific community as one of the
best in the world.
The miracle of this phenomenon takes place thanks to the
trade winds, humid and fresh, coming from the Azores.
However, Gran Canaria has in consequence of the typical
rekief of the island, a great variety of the microclimates.
So have the coastal zones, at about the wolw Southern
part of the island, a climate which is almost the wole
yeat sunny and dry.
When we reach bigger hights, the influence of the coast
is less and the mountains are keeping back the clouds
which provokes big thermical differences between the mild
average zones, the valleys and suptropical forrests, and
the areas more high where the temperature can drop untill
o degrees.
In occasions, they give the paradox that in only one hour
with the car, you can go from sunbandig and swimming on
the beach to playing in the snow in the mountain peaks.
What you expect from the temperature of the water, it?s
also warm. Swinging between 18 degrees in the wintermonths
and 22 degrees the rest of the year.
This circumstance, together with 2.700 hours of sun annual
booked in Gran Canaria, make it possible to get the maximum
efficiency out of a day, being on the beach, practising
a sport, making an excursion or doing any activity you
like in the open air.
A mistake often made is to think that when the islands
have a winter which is so warm, they must have a summer
which is very oppressive, but nothing is less true: the
summer in the Canarias is soft because of the islands,
which gives soft and pleasant summers, around the 24 degrees.
